What is a PageRank?

PageRank is a trademark from Google and is one of the factors used to determine a site's position in the Google search engine. PageRank refers to a numeric value which represents how important a page is on the web. According to Google, the more links that refer to a page, the more important that page must be. Each link is rated based on the importance of the page it is linked from.

To make this easier to understand, it basically means that the more pages you have that are linked from important sites, the higher your PageRank would be. Therefore a link from Microsoft to your site will count much more than a link from Joe Smith's personal web site. To find out more about Google PageRank, click here.
